Community and Service

Councilmember Alexander remains actively involved in community affairs, particularly those that affect Ward 7’s youth. She has been involved with programs such as Mentors Incorporated, Teen Life Choices and has been honored for her service and commitment to the Prairie View University Criminal Justice Department’s Youth Outreach Program.

DC VOTING RIGHTS (AUTONOMY)

As a native Washingtonian, Councilmember Alexander knows the importance of the District having a voice in Congress. In 2004 during the Democratic Convention in Boston, she was the only female representative who lobbied other state delegations to support D.C. Voting Rights. She has supported council measures to affirm the District’s message on voting rights to Congress;

PUBLIC SAFETY

The safety of Ward 7 constituents is always a priority for Councilmember Alexander. She and her Constituent Service staff work continuously with the Metropolitan Police Department – Sixth District, community organizations and appropriate District government agencies to prevent an increase in crime by addressing issues that can lead to potential illegal activity.
